Lithium batteries - Do they work better than other batteries?

Most of the modern gadgets are portable and they run with batteries. From wall clocks to cameras, all the devices work well when you have inserted the right battery inside them. However, some of them work with Energizer L91 AA Lithium Batteries, while others can be operated with alkaline battery. Both these batteries differ from each other in the way they produce electricity. Though both of them turn out electricity, they make use of diverse chemicals. 
 
Power of lithium and alkaline batteries-
 
Alkaline cells have electrochemical structure that causes a reaction of cathode and anode. The former one is positively charged terminal, while the latter is electrode with negative charge. Alkaline battery depends on the result of the contact of magnesium dioxide and zinc. Alkaline-based products produce 1.5 V that may be enhanced by having multiple batteries. On the other hand, lithium cells may be able to generate more than 1.75 Volt. Various batteries have different currents and voltages according to their sizes. Lithium battery has lithium as the major ingredient. Though some people believe that this battery is not good to the environment, Energizer L91 AA Lithium Batteries or other innovative products have been designed in such a way that they will not cause damage to the surroundings.
 
Lithium-ion- How they differ from other two batteries-
 
Now, if we look at Lithium-ion battery, we may see that their usual voltages are higher than that of any alkaline battery. With every cell, you get 3.6V. While this voltage is higher, you do not need a large number of cells in order to get the required power. Most of the mobile handsets have Li-ion battery with only cell and it works with 3.6 V. Toys, laptops, and many other devices need much energy, and they require rechargeable type of battery.
